DUSHANBE, September 17, 2014, Asia-Plus – In January-August 2014, Tajikistan has produced a total of more than 6.1 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 1.2 billion U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to the same period of the last year the index of the volume of production of industrial goods has amounted to 105 percent.

Processing industry has reportedly accounted for 62.4 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the first eight months of this year, enterprises producing and distributing electrical power, natural gas and water have accounted for 23.1 percent and mining industry has accounted for 14.5 percent.

Of 1,133 industrial enterprises registered in the country 215 enterprises have not been in operation over the report period. 

Of the 90 basic types of industrial products the output of 37 has increased in January-August this year, and the output of 41 items has decreased over the same eight six-month period.  Twelve basic types of industrial products have not been manufactured over the report period.
