DUSHANBE, September 17, 2014, Asia-Plus — Over the first eight months of this year, Tajikistan has imported more than 395,000 tons of oil products to the amount of some 400 million U.S. dollars, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The oil product imports have reportedly been increased by 60 percent compared to the same period of 2013.  

In January-August 2013, Tajikistan imported 248,000 tons of oil products to the amount of 261 million U.S. dollars.

The Russian Federation provides the bulk of Tajikistan’s oil product imports.  In January-August this year, Russia has supplied 356,800 tons of oil products to Tajikistan, which is nearly 90 percent of Tajikistan’s oil product imports over the report period.

In all, 22 countries of the world have supplied oil products to Tajikistan over the same eight-month period.  Kazakhstan has supplied 20,000 tons of oil products to Tajikistan in January-August this year, Azerbaijan – 7,000 tons, Turkmenistan – 4,900 tons, Iran – 2,200 tons, Kyrgyzstan – 1,900 tons, and others.
