DUSHANBE, February 16, 2015 Asia-Plus – Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev reportedly urges to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at all enterprirses in the Tajik capital irrespective of forms of property.

A meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office, presided over by Mayor Ubaidulloyev, took place on February 16 to discuss issues related to replenishment of the city budget and targeted use of municipal property, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe’s mayor’s office, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the mayor ordered to remove all obstacles in the way of leasing municipal properties as soon as possible.

The meeting reportedly also discussed rational use of electricity and the collection of funds for electricity from the public and enterprises.

The meeting participants also discussed the issues of the neutralization stray dogs in the city and installation of CCTV cameras at all enterprises irrespective of forms of property, the source said.

We will recall that the Dushanbe mayor”s office last May defended a decision to install CCTV cameras in the offices of all civil servants in the Tajik capital.  The decree was signed by Ubaidulloyev on May 19, 2014.  The aim of the move is reportedly to tackle corruption among city officials and to make their activities transparent.  According to the decree, all city offices were supposed to be equipped with CCTV cameras by July 1.  Local activists reportedly have the right to either visit the offices or to request tapes of CCTV footage.
