German investors reportedly seek partnership opportunities in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, February 18, 2015, Asia-Plus – Opportunities of joint implementation of economic development projects in Tajikistan were discussed here yesterday at a meeting of Mr. Sharif Said, Head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) with a German delegation, led by Mr. Jorg Hetsch, Head of the Delegation of German Economy for Central Asia.

According to the CCI press center, the purpose of the visit is for the German delegation to seek business partners in Tajikistan, discuss prospects of mutually beneficial economic cooperation and establishment of interaction between the CCIs of the two countries.

The sides reportedly discussed issues related to opportunities of joint implementation of economic development projects in Tajikistan and expansion of cooperation between business communities of Tajikistan and Germany through holding joint meetings of Tajik and German businesspeople.

Sectors like agriculture (processing farm produce and processing cotton into manufactured goods), pharmaceutics (establishing ecologically pure facilities in mountain areas for collection and processing of medicinal herbs), health care (delivery of medical equipment from Germany), mining (processing and export of marble, granite and semi-precious stones), light and food industries were outlined as areas, of which could drive bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Germany, the source said.
