Tajik president calls for practical implementation of Tajik-Iranian agreements

DUSHANBE, June 7, 2015, Asia-Plus – On Friday June 5, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli, who was in Dushanbe to participate in a ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The Tajik president’s official website reports that Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with expansion of bilateral cooperation between the interior ministries of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He reportedly also expressed satisfaction with the current legal foundation of cooperation between the two countries in combating crime.

At the same time, Tajik president pointed to the necessity of practical implementation of agreements reached between the two countries.

Expansion of trilateral cooperation between Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan in combating terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking was also a major topic of the meeting, the Tajik president’s official website said.

Meanwhile, Iran’s news agency IRNA reports the Iranian minister delivered President Hassan Rouhani”s warm greetings to his Tajik counterpart, expressing hope that the two countries that have the same roots and same cultures will have ever-increasing relations.

Rahmani-Fazli also hoped that the SCO member nations would manage to overcome the prevailing crises in the region through collective cooperation, IRNA said.
