DUSHANBE, June 22, 2015, Asia-Plus — Over the first five months of this, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power and natural gas, has amounted to 1.6365 billion U.S. dollars, which was 88.6 percent of the January-May 2014 level or 394.7 million USD fewer, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Over the report period, the trade balance has been negative and amounted to 930.1 million U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods in January-May have amounted to 353.2 million U.S. dollars, which was 5.2 percent, or 19.6 million USD, fewer than in the same period last year.

Over the same five-month period, imports of goods into the country have amounted to 1.2833 billion U.S. dollars, which was 22.6 percent, or 375.1 million USD, fewer than in January-May 2014.   

In January-May this year, Tajikistan has had trade relations with 78 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

In January-May, major partners for Tajikistan’s exports were:  Turkey – 28.5 percent; Switzerland – 23.0 percent; Kazakhstan – 18.2 percent; Iran – 7.7 percent; Russia – 7.0 percent; Afghanistan – 4.4 percent; Pakistan – 3.4 percent; China – 1.8 percent; Italy – 1.6 percent; and others.    

Over the same five-month period, major partners for Tajikistan’s imports were: Russia – 32.7 percent; Kazakhstan – 16.5 percent; China – 14.9 percent; Iran – 4.3 percent; Turkey – 4.2 percent; Turkmenistan – 3.4 percent; Switzerland – 3.2 percent; and others.
