DUSHANBE, July 3, 2015, Asia-Plus — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has organized a youth video competition in conjunction with its upcoming 2nd Asian Irrigation Forum in Manila.
ADB invites budding filmmakers aged 18-30 to submit a video of up to 3-minutes in length on the topic of “Who”s Growing Tomorrow”s Food?”
Grand prize is a trip to ADB Headquarters in Manila to present the winning entry personally at the forum, which will be held from November17-19, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization and the International Water Management Institute. Shortlisted videos will also be showcased at the forum and shared on the ADB website.
“Given that 80% of water in Asia is used for irrigation, there is huge competition for this critical resource in the face of growing populations, urbanization, changing diets, and the threat of climate change,” said conference organizer Yasmin Siddiqi, ADB Principal Water Resources Specialist. “We are looking forward to seeing creative videos which we hope will offer fresh perspectives on these challenges.”
Entries, which will be uploaded on YouTube.com or Youku.com, will be judged on content, effective use of time in the video, clarity, originality of message and involvement of stakeholders.
Those wishing to take part should fill in the registration form and send it to [email protected] before September 30, 2015. Winners will be informed by October 15, 2015.
