DUSHANBE, December 30, 2015, Asia-Plus – The volume of loans provided by Bank Eskhata in the somoni has reportedly increased.

According to press released issued by Bank Eskhata, it is one of anti-crisis measures the bank has taken during the financial crisis.

Over the first eleven months of this year, Bank Eskhata has provided more than 423.5 million somoni in loans, which was 18.4 million somoni more than last year.

This year, more than 440 clients have applied to Bank Eskhata asking to prolong their loans and the bank has reportedly prolonged loans to the amount of 39.6 million somoni.

In February, the bank lowered interest rate on the loans provided in dollars by 2.0 percent.  By the end of the year, Bank Eskhata has lowered interest rate on the loans provided in dollars by another 2.0 percent.

Established in November 1993, a privately owned Eskhata Bank, with headquarters in Khujand, now has twenty-three branches in various regions of the country.  The bank got operating license on November 29, 1994.

Bank Eskhata is Tajikistan’s fifth largest bank by assets, part-owned by the EBRD, and with a particular focus on SME financing and support.  In December 2005, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) took equity in Eskhata Bank that allowed Eskhata to continue to comply with the National Bank of Tajikistan’s minimum capital requirements, which have been revised upwards to 5 million U.S. dollars.
