DUSHANBE, February 24, 2016, Asia-Plus — The remainder of loans provided by Tajik banks rose 21.8 percent in a year to January 31, 2016, reaching more than 12 billion somoni, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

4.9 billion somoni (40.9 percent) have reportedly been provided in short-term loans and more than 7.1 billion somoni (59.1 percent) have been provided in long-term loans.

Last month, the weighted average interest rate for loans provided in the national currency was 24.7 percent and the weighted average interest rate for loans provided in foreign currencies was 20.19 percent (a 3.5 % decline compared to January 2015), Tajik central bank noted.

Meanwhile, the volume of micro loans provided to entrepreneurs in remote mountain areas last month rose 7.5 percent compared to January 2015.
