DUSHANBE, March 1, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today inaugurated two new national TV channels: TV-Varzish (TV Sport) and TV-Sinamo (TV Movie).

We will recall that by government’s decrees issued on November 24, 2015 Khurshed Fayzullozoda was appointed director of the TV-Varzish channel and Nabi Nabizoda was appointed director of the TV-Sinamo channel.

The opening of these TV channels has brought a total number of national TV channels operating in Tajikistan to six.

The following national TV channels now operate in Tajikistan: Shabakai Avval (Channel One); Safina; Jahonnamo (News TV Channel); Bahoriston (Children’s TV Channel); TV-Varzish; and TV-Sinamo.    

Tajik Television was formed in 1959.  The first program aired by the station aired on October 3, 1959.  The first program consisted of a bilingual (Tajik/Russian) news bulletin followed by a movie: 

Light in the Mountains

.  The first words were spoken by Rafuat Abdusalomov.

Besides, Rahmon inaugurated the Media Academy of Tajikistan today. 

Headed by Zinnatullo Imoilzoda, the head of Tajik Journalists’ Union (TJU), the Media Academy has the following departments: radio; television; periodicals; computers; and design.

In all, 215 people work for two new national TV channels and the Media Academy at an average monthly wage of 2,000 somoni.
