DUSHANBE, March 31, 2016, Asia-Plus – Visiting Indian entrepreneurs have met with Tajik officials to discuss cooperation.

On Wednesday March 30, they met with Qosim Qodir Chairman of the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest).

The two sides reportedly discussed issues related to attraction of Indian investments in Tajikistan’s economy.

On Thursday March 31, Indian entrepreneurs met with Tajik First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Saidrahmon Nazrizoda.

According to the press center of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT), the two sides discussed opportunities of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and India in the fields of industry, agriculture, energy, pharmaceutics, education, and tourism.

A special attention as reportedly paid development free economic zones in Tajikistan.

We will recall that a two-day conference of representatives of the business communities of Tajikistan and India took place in Dushanbe on March 28-29.  Organized by Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the forum reportedly brought together more than 60 entrepreneurs from both countries to discuss cooperation.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between CCI and CII was signed during the conference.  The document was inked Sharif Said, the head of Tajikistan’s CCI, and Kiran Vasant Kalbag, the head of the CII delegation.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is an association of Indian businesses which works to create an environment conducive to the growth of industry in the country.

CII is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization, playing a proactive role in India”s development process.  Founded in 1895, CII has over 7200 members, from the private as well as public sectors, including SMEs and MNCs, and an indirect membership of over 1,00,000 enterprises from around 242 national and regional sectoral industry bodies.

CII works closely with Government on policy issues, interfacing with thought leaders, and enhancing efficiency, competitiveness and business opportunities for industry through a range of specialized services and strategic global linkages.

With 64 offices, including 9 Centers of Excellence, in India, and 7 overseas offices in Australia, China, Egypt, France, Singapore, UK, and USA, as well as institutional partnerships with 224 counterpart organizations in 90 countries, CII serves as a reference point for Indian industry and the international business community.
