DUSHANBE, July 14, 2016, Asia-Plus – Uzbek companies are reportedly seeking cooperation with Tajik enterprises.

Visiting senior representatives of Uzbekstroymeterialy (Uzbek building materials) and Sharq Inshoot yesterday met here with leaders of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) to discuss issues related to establishing business ties and seeking reliable partners in Tajikistan.

According to the CCI press center, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Yuri Nagai also attended the meeting.

Over the first five months of this year, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan has valued at more than 20 million U.S. dollars, which was five times more than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan    

In 2015, a two-way trade between the two countries amounted to little more than 12 million U.S. dollars, which was 6 percent less than in the previous year.

Meanwhile, in early 2000s a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan exceeded 500 million U.S. dollars.
