President Emomali Rahmon yesterday gave start to the construction of the main building of Khujand State University.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, this 13-story building will be able to accommodate 5,000 students in one shift.  

Rector’s office, University museum, various laboratories and chairs, lecture hall, dining hall and other premises will be placed in the building.

The building will also have an assembly hall that will be able to seat up to 1,200 people, the source said.

The building is expected to be finished in three or five years.

Yesterday, the president also attended a ceremony of an official opening of a high-rise residential building in Khujand’s 19th neighborhood.
