By Khujand authorities’ decision a unique planetarium will be demolished in the city as part of municipal redevelopment plan that includes the construction of modern buildings.

Two high-rise residential buildings are expected to be constructed on the premises of the planetarium.

Mahmoudjon Dadoboyev, a spokesman for the Khujand mayor’s office, says a new modern observatory meeting today’s requirements will be built in the 32nd microrayon of Khujand.

According to him, the construction of a new observatory will be financed by the Sughd education department and local entrepreneur Aminjon Jourayev.

The observatory is expected to be finished in early 2018.
