A Tajik section has appeared on an official website of the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.     

The Tajik section of the Uzbek foreign ministry’s official website appeared on March 9 when a state visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan began.  

The Tajik section contains reports on Uzbek president’s state visit to Tajikistan and reopening of border crossing points (BCPs) along the Uzbek-Tajik border.  

The Tajik section, in particular, says that 1.5 million ethnic Tajiks live in Uzbekistan and Tajik cultural centers now operate in ten regions of the country.  Universities in Samarqand, Termez and Ferghana reportedly have Tajik-language departments.  

Meanwhile, a joint statement by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev on strengthening of friendship and neighborliness in the Uzbek language was posted on the Tajik president’s official website in the evening of March 9.
