Taxpayers reportedly constitute some 45 percent (4 million physical entities) of Tajikistan’s population, which is currently under nine million.

The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), the Tax Committee of Tajikistan and local lending agencies have jointly implemented the online tax payment project, according to the NBT press center.

This service aims to achieve electronic tax payment and reform the current tax payment mode which relies mainly on paper documents and human processing.

Physical entities and individual entrepreneurs now can pay taxes without visiting the banking service centers.

According to data from Tajik central bank, there are four million taxpayers in Tajikistan comprising physical entities and 270,000 individual entrepreneurs.

The NBT also notes that holders of credit cards of the “Korti Milli” payment system constitute 83 percent (1.4 million people) of the overall number of holders of credit cards in the country.
