Brazilian diplomats are carrying out work on opening Brazil’s Consulate General in Dushanbe, according to the press center of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Brazilian Ambassador to Tajikistan (with residence in Islamabad) Claudio Lins reportedly asked Tajik CCI head Sharif Said to help him in that matter during a meeting that took place in Dushanbe on May 8.

Brazilian diplomat noted that opening of Brazil’s Consulate General in Dushanbe will promote expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, said the CCI press center.

Both sides reportedly pointed to the necessity of using the existing potential to expand trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Brazil.

Sharif Said expressed readiness to provide assistance with organizing trade and economic missions and invited Brazilian entrepreneurs to the international universal exhibition “Tajikistan 2018” that will take place in Dushanbe in August this year, the CCI press center added.

On the same day, Brazilian diplomat met with representatives of Tajikistan’s business community to discuss ways of establishing cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.

According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the trade between Tajikistan and Brazil last year valued at only 5 million U.S. dollars.
