On Friday May 25, Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi of Namoyandagon) of parliament endorsed a bill on amendments to the country’s law on the National Bank of Tajikistan.

Presenting the bill to lawmakers, the NBT head Jamshed Nourmahmadzoda noted that the amendments were proposed for the purpose of “ensuring the level of adequacy of the bank’s capital for promotion of an efficient monetary policy.”

“The amount of the authorized capital is set at 500 million somoni taking into account increase in property of the National Bank,” Tajik central bank head said.

According to him, increase in the amount of the authorized capital will promote increase in the bank’s reserves.
