An international investment forum, Pamir Invest 2018, will take place in Khorog, the capital of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), for September 15-16, according to the Association of Entrepreneurs and Mountain Farmers “Milal Inter.”

The event will be held by the Association of Entrepreneurs and Mountain Farmers "Milal Inter”, the GBAO regional administration, the State Committee on Investments and State-Owned Property Management (GosKomInvest) jointly with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Tajikistan and other partners for development.

Pamir Invest 2018 is an International Investment Forum to promote the development of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region and surrounding highland regions of Tajikistan, attract foreign investment to businesses operating within the region, first of all tourism, acceleration of implementation of the GBAO socioeconomic development program, and promote wider regional trade and economic cooperation,

According to the official website of the Pamir Invest 2018 Forum, local and foreign investors and donors as well as senior representatives of relevant ministries d agencies of Tajikistan and international organizations active in the country will participate in the upcoming Forum.  

The Forum is expected to discuss the investment climate of Tajikistan and the potential of the mountainous regions of Tajikistan, in particular: development of industrial enterprises, including joint ventures, using local natural resources; creation of agricultural processing enterprises; and development of tourism infrastructure. 

The Forum will be held over two days and will include specialist thematic sessions.

Since 2011, four international investment forums have been held in Khorog and more than 700 people have participated in those forums.  

According to the incomplete calculations, more than 6 million U.S. dollars have been attracted and various enterprises have been launched as a result of establishment of cooperation between local and foreign participants of the Forum, says the Pamir Invest’s official website.
