Official Press Release

The Tajik Embassy in Cairo on September 5 hosted a diplomatic reception at one of the hotels overlooking river Nile on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of Tajikistan Independence.

According to the Tajik Embassy, Assistant Foreign Minister of Egypt Khaled Sarwat, former Prime-Minister Essam Sharaf, members of the Egyptian parliament, senior officials from various ministries and government agencies of Egypt, foreign ambassadors and diplomats accredited in Cairo, representatives of mass media and business community of Egypt, as well as the Tajik fellow citizens and students attended the reception.

In his welcoming speech Ambassador of Tajikistan to Egypt Khusrav Noziri mentioned the achievements of our country during the years of Independence under the leadership of the President Emomali Rahmon and noted that the Republic of Tajikistan intends to continue its path towards strengthening peace and stability, further economic development and social welfare.

It should be noted that April 1st of this year marked the 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Egypt, and on the occasion of this historical date, the leaders of the two friendly states exchanged messages of congratulation.  However, the history of contacts between the Tajik and Egyptian peoples goes back to ancient times.  A convincing testimony to this is the presence of lapis lazuli from Badakhshan on the ornaments of Egyptian pharaohs.

Guest of the event had an opportunity to appreciate the corner of books written by the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, as well as collection of paintings by the renowned Tajik artists Faridoun and Farrukh Nematzode, samples of Tajik suzani and other traditional ornaments.
