The agrarian sector still prevails in the gross domestic product (GDP) structure of Tajikistan

Based on current data, Tajikistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) for the first nine months of this year has been 47.5 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 5 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 7.0 percent over the same period last year in comparable prices, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Over the report period Tajikistan’s GDP structure by sources of income included: agriculture, forestry, fishery and hunting – 18.6 percent (2.1 percent reduction compared to the same period last year); industry and energy – 17.2 percent (0.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year); sale and repair of automobiles and home appliances and consumer goods, hotels and restaurants – 14.9 percent; transportation, communications and warehousing – 11.65 percent; taxes – 11.3 percent; etc.

Last year, GDP in Tajikistan was worth 7.15 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 7.0 percent over 2016 in comparable prices.

In 2016, Tajikistan’s GDP was 6.953 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 6.9 percent over 2015 in comparable prices.

In 2015, the country’s GDP reached little more than 48.4 billion somoni (equivalent to 7.857 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 6.0 percent over 2014 in comparable prices.   

This year, the country’s GDP is projected to reach 65.7 billion somoni, and in 2019, Tajikistan’s GDP is projected to increase to 73.5 billion somoni.
