The new hotline and a Resource Center at the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan is being created under the EU-funded project, according to European Union (EU) Delegation to Tajikistan.

The Center will provide free legal and psychological support and consultations to victims of domestic violence.

Women subject to domestic violence and members of the families seeking for support can dial 1313 and will be connected with the expert on legal and gender issues, the psychologist on prevention of domestic violence and gender equality, or even the lawyer, depending on the situation.  The number is toll-free from all Tajik mobile operators.

The Gender Resource Center is reportedly established to provide assistance to people exposed to violence.  The Centre will function under the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan.  The Gender Resource Center has a database to assist in the collection and analysis of detailed information on domestic violence cases.  For easy collection of information, obtaining unified statistics and processing information on a database, an electronic application has been developed and implemented.  Telephone calls are also entered and marked in the database.

Collection of information for the database includes: a statement about cases of domestic violence (against women, children, parents or other relatives); types of services (psychological and legal); and the collection of statistical data.

An Internet connection has been made to the developed electronic database for the analysis of violence cases, which makes it possible to provide detailed information on request in real time.

The Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia – Tajikistan (EFCA-Tajikistan), with the financial support of the European Union, is implementing the project, Improving the Framework for Reporting and Resolution of Gender-Based Violence in Tajikistan, under support of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan.

The project was launched in May 2017 and is aimed to address gender-based violence and improve the reporting system in Tajikistan, in order to strengthen human rights and gender equality throughout the country.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, local government bodies and public organizations in Tajikistan.
