Tajik cotton growers are taking real measures to gather cotton on time and fulfill this year’s target, which has been determined at 400,000 tons.  However, it seems that they will fail to fulfill the target this year.

By December 3, cotton growers of central Tajikistan (districts subordinate to the center) have yielded 11,423 tons of raw cotton, which is 131.4 percent of the projected figures, according to the Crop Production Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA). 

Cotton growing districts in the northern Sughd province have reportedly yielded 111,581 ton of raw cotton by December 3, which is 111.5 percent of the projected figures. 

Meantime, cotton grower of the southern Khatlon province have yielded 200,676 tons of raw cotton so far, which is 80.2 percent of the projected figures.

The country has yielded 323,000 tons of cotton by December 3, which comprises 90.2 percent of this year's target.    

This year, Tajikistan has allocated 187,500 hectares of lands to cotton cultivation, which is 13,500 ha more than in 2017.

Last year, Tajik cotton growers yielded 390,000 tons of raw cotton, which was 105.2 percent of the last year’s target.
