A meeting of the commission on giving presidential awards to prize winners of international sports competitions, presided over by Deputy Prime Minister, Azim Ibrohim, took place in Dushanbe on December 5.

Seventy-four athletes have reportedly been nominated to presidential awards ranging this year from 15,000 somoni to 30,000 somoni depending on the results.

The winners will become known at the end of the year when the head of state signs a decree on this subject.

President Emomali Rahmon made a decision to give awards to prize winners of international sport competitions in January 2015.  To-date, forty-seven athletes have been given presidential awards — twenty-one in 2016 and twenty-six in 2017.
