Tajikistan Football Federation to construct eight modern sports grounds in Khorog

Acting governor of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), Yodgor Fayzov, has handed over cash bonuses, diplomas and valuable gifts to 95 local athletes and coaches who showed good results last year. 

Yodgor Fayzov has especially mentioned athletes who successfully participated in international tournaments, including the world champion in Sambo Khoushqadam Khusravov and bronze medalist of the Asian Judo Championships Shakarmamad Mirmamadov, a source in the GBAO regional administration told Asia-Plus in an interview. 

GBAO governor also noted that the Tajikistan Football Federation (TFF) will construct eight modern sports grounds in the GBAO administrative center this year.  

10 sports schools and 62 sport facilities now operates in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.  Last year, local athletes reportedly won 65 gold medals at various republican and international competitions. 

The Tajikistan Football Federation is the governing body of football in Tajikistan. The federation was founded in 1936 in the Tajikistan SSR as a sub-federation of the Soviet Football Federation. It was not until 1994 when the Federation was accepted by the international community including the continental and global associations.  Current President of the Tajikistan Football Federation is Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali.
