Nearly 98 percent of the able-bodied population of Tajikistan is employed in economics and about 52,000 people have an official status of unemployed, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Distribution of the workforce across economic sectors is the following: agriculture – 45 percent; manufacturing industry – 4.8 percent; construction – 2.9 percent; transport and trade – 2.0 percent each; financial mediation – 1.5 percent.

Besides, 20.1 of the able-bodied population is reportedly employed in the education sector; 9.5 percent in the health sector, 3.9 percent in the public management and defense.

Meanwhile, the lowest average monthly wage last year was reported in the agrarian sector – 617 somoni (equivalent to 65.00 U.S. dollars).

In the educational sector the averge monthly wage last year was 933 somoni (equivalent to 99.00 U.S. dollars), and in the health sector the average monthly wage last year was 817 somoni (equivalent to 86.00 U.S. dollars)      

In 2018, the highest average monthly wage was reported in the financial sector – 3,520 somoni (equivalent to 374.00 U.S. dollars).

In the construction sector, the average monthly wage last year was 2,605 somoni (equivalent to 276.00 U.S. dollars). 

In the mining sector, the average monthly wage last year stood at 2,488 somoni (equivalent to 264.00 U.S. dollars).

Tajikistan’s average monthly nominal wage last year stood at 1,324 somoni (equivalent to 140.00 U.S. dollars).
