Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani stressed that the development of Iran-Tajikistan relations is essential at all levels, especially in the economic field, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Mr. Larijani added that Tajikistan is a neighboring country of Iran, with a history of civilization and a common language between the two countries.

Iranian Parliament Speaker made the remarks on March 10 at a meeting with newly appointed Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mohammad Taghi Saberi.

Noting that Iran and Tajikistan have had good relations with each other, the head of Iran's legislative body reportedly underlined that the two countries’ relation are close at different levels and they should use this space to overcome some misunderstandings.

Larijani emphasized that the expansion of cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan in the field of culture and education is of particular importance.

He went on to say the development of Iran-Tajikistan relations is essential at all levels, especially in the economic field.

Mohammad Taghi Saberi, for his part, said, “Tajikistan is a strategic country for developing comprehensive cooperation with Iran.”

He stressed, “I am using all the capabilities to develop relations between the two countries in all aspects.”

Prior to this, Mohammad Taghi Saberi had reportedly served as deputy foreign minister for administrative and financial affairs since January 2018.
