It is a day to internationally recognize women’s achievements irrespective of their nationality, ethnicity, cultural, economic or political background.

First and foremost, I celebrate women as Human Beings who have equal Right as men to dream, be educated, participate in civic and political affairs, work and get paid for her work and have equal access to education, health care, job, credit and justice.

I celebrate today the 10-year-old Yemeni girl Nujood Ali, who was fought and won a case for divorce from her 30 years old abusive husband.  I celebrate Nujood’s courage to stand up for her Rights and seek justice in court of law which gave impetus for legal reforms in her home country and abroad and saved hundreds and thousands of other minor girls from early and forced marriage.

I celebrate the victories of Tajik girls at international scientific Olympiads: Shakhnoza Yadgarova, Irana Kholmatova, Sabina Abdurahmanova, Shukrona Kholova, and Farida Raufova!

I celebrate today the great women political leaders like Sirimavo Bandaranaike and Indira Gandhi, the world's first women prime ministers; Angela Merkel, Rosa Otumbaeva and Halima Yakub who inspired millions of girls and women worldwide to successfully contest elections and assume leadership positions.

I celebrate the will and desire of girls in rural areas to attend schools against all odds, acquire skills to be able to participate in development and decision-making processes. I celebrate their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and grandparents who support them and encourage them to fulfill their aspirations.

I celebrate Malala Yusufzai, a young Pakistani girl who fearlessly fought for the Right of girls to study and did not stop her crusade even after being shot by Taliban and became youngest person to be awarded the Nobel Prize.

I celebrate millions of women CEOs, business managers, scientists, innovators for their contribution in making this world a better place for all.

I celebrate the victories and achievements of Zebuniso Rustamova, Mavzuna Chorieva, Sabina Tyuryaeva, who glorified Tajikistan in the world’s sports arenas, along with women athletes from other countries.

I celebrate today the wisdom and goodwill of the 193 governments of the world that signed the global declaration Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and recognized that gender equality, empowerment of women and girls, a world without violence- are shared global goals; and sustainable development is only possible when they attained.

I urge you all to join me in celebrating the 8th of March to improve our present and build the future together, a future without any form of violence, future where women and girls are able to unleash their full potential, future where women and men both fight for gender equality; a future which includes all in development and accelerate the achievement of gender equality and the SDGs.
