Major part of Tajik capital will be left without electricity for several hours today in connection with routine maintenance work on power stations in these areas, according to the Dushanbe electricity supply networks.

“Today, electricity supply will be cut off to neighborhoods Qarotegin, Kamol and Chanori Emom from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in connection with routine maintenance work,” said an official source at the Dushanbe electricity supply networks.  “Besides, electricity supply will be cut off to Zebunniso, Chanoro, Nazarshoyev, Sadriddin Ayni, Jabbor Rasoulov, Mayakovski, Ykkachanor, Asadullo Ghulomov, Abuali Sino, Saadi Sherozi, Ninth January and Rohi Nav streets.”

According to him, routine maintenance work will be carried out by turns on all power substations in the city until the beginning of the heating season.

Maintenance work on power stations in the Tajik capital has been carried out since the beginning of the year.

Meanwhile, a source at Barqi Tojik (national utility company) has attributed the problems to low water levels at the reservoir powering the Nurek hydropower plant.

Recall, many regions in the country have seen rationing of electricity between midnight and 6 a.m.
