Tajikistan, Russia expected to sign 15 cooperation documents at interregional conference in Moscow

Organized by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the Tajik Ministry of Economic Development and Trade under support of the Roscongress Foundation, the 7th Conference on Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan will take place in Moscow from April 16 to April 17.  

Russian media reports say the main objective of the conference is in discussing ways to promote further expansion of practical cooperation between the regions of Russia and Tajikistan as well as the business circles and organizations of the two countries.

According to TASS, the conference’s business program for the zero day on April 16 includes thematic roundtables during which cooperation in such areas as agriculture, logistics, trade, education, and culture will be discussed.  

A plenary session will take place on the main day of the conference on April 17. 

Meanwhile, Sputnik reports the conference participants will include high-ranking officials of the two countries, representatives of business communities, public figures and experts. 

The conference is expected to result in signing of at least fifteen bilateral cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation between the countries, according to the press center of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan. 

The conference participants will discuss issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation in the fields of agriculture, logistics, industry, development of mechanisms of investment and trade potential. 

A plenary session that will take place on April 17 will bring together senior representatives of the economic development ministries of both countries to discuss cooperation.  The plenary session will end with signing of at least fifteen cooperation documents.

The conference is reportedly being held within the framework of an official visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to Russia scheduled for April 17-18.     

The previous 6th Conference on Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan took place in Dushanbe in late May last year.
