Fiberglass is a common type of fiber-reinforced plastic using glass fiber.  The fibers may be randomly arranged, flattened into a sheet (called a chopped strand mat), or woven into a fabric.

Other common names for fiberglass are glass-reinforced plastic (GRP), glass-fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) or GFK (from German: Glasfaserverstärkter Kunststoff).  Because glass fiber itself is sometimes referred to as "fiberglass", the composite is also called "fiberglass reinforced plastic".

Cheaper and more flexible than carbon fiber, it is stronger than many metals by weight, and can be molded into complex shapes.  Applications include aircraft, boats, automobiles, bath tubs and enclosures, swimming pools, hot tubs, septic tanks, water tanks, roofing, pipes, cladding, orthopedic casts, surfboards, and external door skins.  GRP covers are also widely used in the water-treatment industry to help control odors.

GRP and GRE pipe can be used in a variety of above- and below-ground systems, including those for: desalination; water treatment; water distribution networks; chemical process plants; water used for firefighting; hot and cold water; drinking water; wastewater/sewage, municipal waste; and liquefied petroleum gas

Karamanci Holding, with its subsidiaries, reportedly employs close to 3000 employees and does business in the textile, infrastructure and energy sectors.  The company currently operates in four main industries and in three countries, Turkey, Romania and Bahrain.

Karamanci Holding, with its subsidiaries Orta Anadolu, is reportedly among the top suppliers of denim fabric and jeans.  The textile group operates through factories in Turkey and Bahrain.

In the infrastructure business, Karamanci Holding subsidiary, Superlit, produces and implements GRP water pipe systems worldwide, with shipments reaching as far as Australia.  Production is currently carried out in Romania and Turkey.

Clean energies are essential for the future of the planet.  As such, Karamanci Holding has been widening its investments in renewable energy generation since 2006.  Karel Energy Company currently operates a 25 MW hydroelectric power plant, with further plant projects under construction. The company plans to expand in this industry in the near future
