Tajikistan is expected to develop the digital economy concept and introduce digital technologies in socioeconomic sectors, according to the press center of the Ministry of economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).

Sifat Innotech Invest Company has reportedly been involved in the development of the digital transformation of the country.

Two working groups (one managing and another one technical) for development of the concept of the digital economy of Tajikistan were set up in February this year.  Public associations have also been involved in the development of the concept of digitalization of the country’s economy.

Established in 2017, the Sifat Innotech Invest Company is engaged in development of innovation projects and introduction of high-tech solutions to promote further development of the country’s economy. The Company plays a leading role in developing software programs for ministries and departments of the country

Meanwhile, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe last month organized a study visit for Tajik officials to Armenia.  The purpose of visit was to provide the officials with the opportunity to learn about innovative strategies for economic growth.

A group of six representatives from President’s Executive Office, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, the State Committee on Investment and the State-owned Property Management, the Administration of Dushanbe City and the Sifat Innotech Invest Company took part in the visit.

The study tour began with visits to Synergy International, Microsoft Armenia, Microsoft Innovation Center, Tumo, Synopsis and technological centers along with the Enterprise Incubator Foundation. The delegations shared their respective experience and used the opportunity to inform each other on steps currently being taken to promote a comprehensive policy-oriented approach towards digitalization of economy in both countries.

The delegation reportedly got acquainted with the benefits of digital platforms and their utilization, which are widening opportunities of infrastructure development.

Digital Economy refers to an economy that is based on digital technologies.  The digital economy is also sometimes called the Internet Economy, the New Economy, or Web Economy.  Increasingly, the “digital economy” is intertwined with the traditional economy making a clear delineation harder.
