Goods and services prices reportedly rise on average 3.5 percent in January-May this year

Over the first five months of this year, prices for goods and service have risen on average 3.5 percent, according to the National bank of Tajikistan (NBT). 

Over the report period, prices set by producers of food products have reportedly increased by 4.3 percent.    

Prices and rates for services rendered to the population during the same five-month period have increased by 1.5 percent. 

Meanwhile, prices for non-foodstuffs have reportedly decreased by 0.1 percent over the first five months of this year.  

Tajik central bank says inflation in May stood at 1.0 percent.

The annual inflation rate for Tajikistan is 8.8 percent for the 12 months ended May 2019.    

The government expects the country’s year-end inflation to stand at 7.0 percent.  

Last year, the year-en inflation in Tajikistan stood at 5.4 percent.
