Tajikistan to learn Bangladesh experience in developing industry

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday met here with Bangladesh President Mohammad Abdul Hamid, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

In the course of the talks, Rahmon noted that Tajikistan is interested in expanding bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh and highly appreciates its role in expanding regional cooperation.

Industry, tourism, education and direct investment were reportedly outlined as areas that could drive the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.  

It was noted that Tajikistan could learn Bangladesh experience in developing industry.

Both leaders pointed to the necessity of launching joint ventures, establishing entrepreneurs’ council and signing new cooperation agreements.   

The two sides also discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and Bangladesh within the framework of regional and international organizations.

They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interests, including joint efforts to address modern global challenges and threats.  

Recall, Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid arrived in Dushanbe yesterday evening for participation in the fifth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Bangladesh media reports say President M Abdul Hamid left Dhaka for Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on a seven-day official visit.  

Members of President Abdul Hamid’s entourage reportedly include his spouse Rashida Khanam and officials concerned of the Foreign Ministry and Bangabhaban (the official residence and principal workplace of the President of Bangladesh).

Tajikistan and Bangladesh have been enjoying warm diplomatic relations with willingness to strengthen it further.

Tajikistan and Bangladesh have shown mutual interest to expand the economic activities between the two countries.  Bangladeshi investors have shown their interest in investing in the sectors of light industry and cotton.  In 2013, Tajikistan and Bangladesh signed a deal on trade and economic cooperation in order to expand bilateral economic activities between the two countries.
