Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, Speaker of Tajikistan’s upper chamber (Majlisi Milli) of parliament, is participating in the 2nd International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism” that kicked off in Moscow yesterday.

The event that runs through July 3 second has reportedly brought together 800 lawmakers and experts from 132 countries.  Among them are 41 speakers of national parliaments.

“Speaking at the forum, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev noted yesterday that globalization processes require formation of new forms of inter-parliamentary cooperation,” Navrouz Qurbonzoda, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“Modern parliamentarism, as the most democratic institution of popular representation, is intended to promote development of society, pool efforts for solution of global problems, and elimination of threats and challenges facing the international community,” Tajik parliament speaker said.

Mr. Ubaidulloyev pointed to the necessity of consolidating efforts of all countries of the world for solution of global problems.

“Tajikistan, as equal member of international community, has always actively declared and declares for the policy aimed at expanding multilateral cooperation and taking confidence building measures in political, economic, ecological and humanitarian spheres through constructive dialogue,” Tajik parliament speaker said.

The second International Forum "Development of Parliamentarism" was launched by the State Duma (Russia’s lower house of parliament).  The first forum was held in Moscow on June 4-5, 2018 at the initiative of State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
