The Tajik northern city of Isfara is making preparations for an upcoming visit of the presidents of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.  Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Kyrgyz counterpart Sooronbai Jeenbekov are expected to hold two meetings at the end of this week in Isfara and Vorukh, Tajikistan’s exclave n Kyrgyzstan.

At the first meeting that will take place in Isfara, Rahmon and Jeenbekov as well as heads of relevant agencies of the two countries will discuss issues related to demarcation and delimitation of the disputable stretches of the mutual border, an official source at the Isfara Administration told Asia-Plus in an interview.

The second meeting will be held in Vorukh and the source noted that that it could not be ruled out that activists of civil societies of border areas of the two countries would be invited to attend the meeting of the presidents in Vorukh.

According to the source, the situation has stabilized but the road connecting Isfara and Vorukh still remains blocked by the Kyrgyz side.

Deputy Prime Minister Azim Ibrohim and senior officials of the Sughd province are currently in Isfara to make preparations for the visit of the presidents of the two countries.
