On Wednesday July 24, Tajikistan’s Ambassador to India Sulton Rahimzoda met in New Delhi with the Minister of Jal Shakti of the Republic of India (Ministry of Water Resources) Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the two issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and India in the field of water resources, including exchange of experience in management of the basin water resources, provision of drinking water to population, participation in water-related events, especially in the framework of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028”.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti is a ministry under Government of India which was formed in May 2019 under the second Modi ministry.  The ministry was formed by merging of two ministries: Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.

The Minister of Jal Shakti is the head of this ministry, and is one of the cabinet ministers of the Government of India.  Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has been the Minister of Jal Shakti since May 31, 2019.
