On Monday September 23, a soccer match between residents of Tajik and Kyrgyz border districts took place at the stadium that is located on the disputed section of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, according to Kyrgyzstan’s online news agency trumush.kg.

The match was reportedly held between residents of Tajikistan’s Bobojon-Ghafourov district and residents of the Kyrgyz village of Maksat, Leilek district of Batken region.  The match ended with a score 2-2.  

Chairman of the Bobojon-Ghafourov district Zarif Naziri gave valuable presents to the player while the head of the Leilek district Baimurat Bekmuratov gave cash prizes to them.  

The match was reportedly held for the purpose of strengthening friendly relations between the two countries and popularizing a healthy lifestyle.
