Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), Shukurjon Zuhurov, considers that the Eurasian counties will benefit if they form the most competitive regional group.

In statement delivered at the Fourth Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan, Shukurjon Zuhurov said on September 24 that the Eurasian countries should take urgent measures against terrorism, extremism and cybercrimes.

He noted that growing dimensions of terrorism, extremism, cybercrimes, transnational organized crime and drug trafficking are continuing to pose threat to international and regional security.

Under this situation, only the countries that will be able to form the most competitive regional integration group will benefit, Zuhurov said.

Tajik parliament speaker also expressed concern about appearance of militants of the Islamic State (IS) terror group in Afghanistan.

Zuhurov noted that the Eurasian countries should make every effort to prevent new round of arms race and the emergence of a new phase of the Cold War.

He called on the European countries to develop economies through formation of common economic freedoms in the spheres of promotion of goods, services, capital, and manpower.

The Fourth Meeting of Speakers of the Eurasian Countries' Parliaments that took place in the Kazakh capital on September 23-24 has brought together parliamentary heads and delegations from 65 European and Asian countries.  The event was also attended by representatives from 14 international parliamentary organizations.

The Fourth Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments themed “Greater Eurasia: Dialogue, Trust and Partnership” reportedly provided a platform for a direct, multilateral dialogue between speakers of European and Asian parliaments and leaders of international organizations to identify main trends of socio-development, create a common ground for cooperation through cultural and human relations and parliamentary interaction, exchange legislative experience, coordinate their efforts and contribute to improve the well-being of people in their respective countries.

The previous editions of the meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries' Parliaments were held in Russia, South Korea and Turkey in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively.
