Tajik athletes have won one gold medal and one bronze medal at the Valentin Zolotarev Memorial Tournament that took place in the Uzbek city of Andijan on October 5-6, according to Tajikistan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC).

In all, 177 athletes from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Tajikistan participated in the competitions.  Tajikistan was reportedly represented by seven boxers.

Bakhtiyor Mirzomuhammad won the gold medal for Tajikistan finishing first in the -75kg weight category.  He won all the five fights. 

Dilshod Oqlov grabbed the bronze medal for Tajikistan, finishing third in the -52kg weight category.  In the semi-final, Dilshod lost to a Kazakh boxer.   

Valentin Zolotarev was an honored coach of Uzbekistan, and the local federation decided to launch the event to pay tribute to him.
