Nearly 950,000 foreign nationals have visited Tajikistan over the first nine months of this year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The overwhelming majority of them are citizens of Uzbekistan – 600,100 people or 63.4 percent.

Uzbeks are followed by Russians – 166,300 people.  

Russians are followed by nationals of Kyrgyzstan – 77,300 people, Afghanistan – 16,400 people, Kazakhstan – 15,500 people, China – 15,200 people, Turkey – 5,000 people, the United States – 4,900 people, Iran – 3,900 people, India and Germany – 3,200 people each, the United Kingdom – 2,100 people, etc.  

The Agency says that of those nearly 950,000 foreigners, 811,000 (85.7 percent) have visited Tajikistan for private purposes.

A number of transit passengers was 26,200 people.

33,300 foreign nationals have visited the country over the report period as tourists.

30,900 people have arrived in Tajikistan over the same nine-month period to study or to work.

400 foreign peoples have visited Tajikistan over the first nine months of this year for business and commercial affairs.

44,600 foreigners have visited Tajikistan over the report period for other purposes.
