Tajikistan’s farm produce exports have significantly decreased.

Over the first nine month of this year, Tajikistan has exported little more than 82,600 tong agricultural goods, which was 28.1 percent or 32,000 tons fewer than in the same period last year, according to the Agency under the President of Tajikistan.  

Over the report period, Kazakhstan was the main destination for Tajikistan’s farm produce exports – 45.6 percent.  Kazakhstan is followed by Russia (20 percent).

Over the same nine-month period, Tajikistan has also supplied agricultural goods to Kyrgyzstan (9 percent), Turkey (5.4 percent), Afghanistan (3.7 percent), Ukraine (3.0 percent), Germany (1.8 percent), Belarus (1.7 percent), China (1.6 percent), Pakistan (1.5 percent), the United States (1.2 percent), Uzbekistan (0.6 percent), and other countries (4.3 percent).  

In January-September this year, onions were reportedly the main item of the country’s farm produce exports – more than 56,800 tons.  However, compared to the same period last year onion exports have decreased by nearly 24,000 tons.  

Over the first nine months of this year, Tajikistan has also exported11,100 tons of dried fruits, 4,100 tons of grapes,4,000 tons of apricots, and more than 2,500 tons of plums.  

Besides, Tajikistan has exported carrots, cucumbers, nuts, potatoes, apples, melons, water melons, pears and citrus over report period but in smaller volumes.  

In January-September this year, gross agricultural product from all categories of farms was more than 19 billion somoni (equivalent to some 2 billion U.S. dollars) in current prices and increased by 7.1 percent compare to the same period last year.
