Dushanbe mayor visits Samarqand, performs dua at the grave of Islam Karimov

Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali yesterday visited the Uzbek city of Samarqand and performed fatiha at the grave of the first Uzbek President Islam Karimov.  He also met with legendary Uzbek football referee Ravshan Irmatov ahead of his visit to Samarqand. 

Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, who was on a two-day working visit to Uzbekistan, yesterday visited the Uzbek city of Samarqand.

While in Samarqand, Rustam Emomali visited the Hazrati Khizr Complex, where the first Uzbek President Islam Karimov is buried.  Uzbek media reports say Rustam Emomali performed dua at the grave of Islam Karimov.  

Dushanbe mayor also visited the Imam Bukhari Mausoleum in Samarqand.

Yesterday ahead of his trip to Samarqand, Rustam Emomali, who is also President of Tajikistan Football Federation and heads the Central Asian Football Association, met at the Milliy Stadium in Tashkent with legendary Uzbek referee Ravshan Irmatov, who is the first Vice-President of Uzbekistan Football Association.  

During the meeting, Emomali expressed hope that football will continue developing in the region and proposed to organize matches between the football teams of the Central Asian nations.  

Ravshan Ermatov reportedly gave a t-shirt of the Uzbek national football team with number “7” to Rustam Emomali.
