Tajik Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the President of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Farhod Rahimi participated in an international conference entitled “Italy and Central Asia: Strengthening Mutual Understanding, Cooperation and Partnership” that took place in Rome, Italy on December  13, according to the Tajik MFA information department.  

Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations says the conference was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the ISPI (Italian Institute for International Political Studies).

Chaired by Undersecretary Manlio Di Stefano, it was reportedly attended by the Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Chingiz Aidarbekov, Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Kamilov, Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev and Turkmenistan, Vepa Hajiyev.

Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio opened the conference, referring to it as “an important occasion to make public institutions and Italian enterprises in particular more aware of opportunities in the countries in the region”.

In a statement delivered at the conference, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin noted the multi-level development of cooperation in Central Asia, and highlighted the existing opportunities and need for a joint struggle against modern threats and challenges in Eurasia, the Tajik MFA information department said.
