In Tajikistan, inflation in the consumer goods sector last month reportedly stood at 0.6 percent.

The cost of products of the food industry in January increased by 0.9 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan. 

The increase in cost of products of the food industry was reportedly caused by an 8.7 percent rise in prices for vegetables, fruits – 4.3 percent, meats – 0.6 percent, bread products – 0.3 percent. 

Non-foodstuffs reportedly rose in cost 0.2 percent last month with the prices increasing most significantly for the following goods: pharmaceutical products – 0.6 percent; detergents – 0.4 percent, and gasoline – 0.2 percent.   

Prices and rates for services rendered to the population reportedly increased by 0.3 percent in January.  The ones that increased most significantly were: payment for tickets for air travel – 14.5 percent; parental payments for kindergartens – 2.9 percent, and tariffs for domestic services – 2.9 percent. 

This year, the government plans to curb inflation rate at 7.0 percent.  

Last year, the year-end inflation in the consumer goods sector reportedly stood at 8.0 percent.
