Russia provides test systems for the diagnosis of coronavirus to CIS nations

Russia has reportedly provided some 800 test systems for the diagnosis of a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) to the CIS member nations, including Tajikistan.   

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) says these test systems for the laboratory diagnosis of COVID-19 have been developed by the Research Center for Virology and Biotechnology “Vector”. 

The test systems are reportedly delivered to the nations of the Eurasian region as part of the implementation by Rospotrebnadzor of measures to support neighboring countries in building capacity to combat the infectious diseases threat.

Interaction in the field of countering epidemics, including free supply of modern diagnostic and prevention of infections means, makes a significant contribution to ensuring sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population and protecting public health in the Eurasian space, Rospotrebnadzor website says.

Meanwhile, the novel coronavirus has reportedly infected more than 134,768 people and killed 4,983 globally.

China has witnessed 80,814 confirmed coronavirus cases and 3,177 deaths as of March 13.

Coronavirus is getting severe in Italy, making it the most-affected in Europe as well as outside Asia (15,113 coronavirus cases and 1,016 deaths).

Iran, another country from where coronavirus spread to rest of the world, currently has 10,076 confirmed cases and has recorded 429 deaths.

South Korea is hit the most by coronavirus infection outside China due to its proximity to the latter.  Coronavirus cases in South Korea started surging in February and are currently close to reaching 7,979.  Deaths due to coronavirus in South Korea reached 67.  The country is being assisted by China, whose experience in containing the outbreak has resulted in controlling the local spread of the epidemic.
