The Government of Tajikistan is considering the possibility of revising revenues and expenditures of the national budget for 2020 due to a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“The government is considering the possibility of revising the budget parameters because of the possible arrears due the global crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic,” Finance Minister Faiziddin Qahhorzoda told reporters yesterday on the sidelines of a regular sitting of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament),

“We are at the stage of summing up the results of work carried out in the first quarter.  We will receive specific figures before April 10,” the minister said.

He further noted that perhaps the budget would receive revenues less than it was originally planned, and therefore, “there is possibility of the revision of the budget’s revenue and expenditure parts.”

Recall, revenues of Tajikistan’s national budget for 2020 are projected to stand at more than 26 billion somoni and its expenditures are projected to stand at more than 26.4 million somoni.
