A quarantined man has died in northern Tajikistan.  The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population says the man died of coronary heart disease.

Resident of the northern district of Jabbor-Rasoulov, Hojimuhammad Toshev, who had stood in quarantine since late March, died in the Uzbekqishloq hospital on the night of April 11.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population released an official statement, noting that Toshev died of coronary heart disease.  The ministry calls on the population not to believe rumors of about spread of a novel coronavirus in the country and rely only on official data.

Meanwhile Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service, known locally as Radio Ozodi, says Hojimuhammad Toshev had worked as head of the methodology section at the Jabbor-Rasoulov education department and contacted with the head of the Jabbor-Rasoulov education department, Abdujalil Shodiyev, the brother of a 61-year-old Habibullo Shodiyev who died of pneumonia in the Jabbor-Rasoulov central district hospital on April 1.

Recall, Abdujalil Shodiyev and seventeen other relatives of Habibullo Shodiyev still stay in quarantine at the Jabbor-Rasoulov central district hospital.

Two hospitals – the central district hospital and a hospital in the Gulakandoz jamoat — have been placed under quarantine in the Jabbor-Rasoulov due coronavirus concerns.

Currently, there are 397 people in the central district hospital, including 182 patients, 180 medical workers and patients’ relatives, as well as 25 children in the children's department and 29 women with newborns babies in the maternity ward of the hospital.

121 people are currently in quarantine in the Gulakandoz hospital, including 108 medical workers and 13 patients.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population insists that, as of April 13, there has not been one confirmed case of the coronavirus infection in Tajikistan.
