62 officially confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Tajikistan yesterday, bringing a total number of officially confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country to 5,097 as of the evening of June 15, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP).
3,503 COVID-19 patients (+94 people) have reportedly recovered as of the evening of June 15, 2020.
The official coronavirus-linked death toll has not change and remained the same – 50, according to a MoHSPP.
508 COVID-19 patients are still in hospital under the supervision of doctors.
All the public facilities, clothing markets, shopping malls, beauty salons, sanatoriums, restaurants and others, which had been temporary closed due to COVID-19 related epidemiological situation reopened in Tajikistan yesterday, in line with the decision of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee on COVID-19 Response.
Recall, Tajik parliament has voted to criminalize spreading infectious and fine anybody not wearing a face mask while going out in public.
The bill, passed by Tajikistan’s lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament on June 10, provides for a prison sentence of between 2 and 5 years for the intentional transmission of infectious diseases and a prison sentence of up to 10 years if the act caused grievous bodily harm.
Parliament also approved fines of 580 somoni for physical entities and by a fine of 11,600 somoni for legal entities for disseminating inaccurate and untruthful information about pandemic through media and a fine from 116 to 290 somoni for anyone not wearing a mask in public or failing to practice physical distancing of two meters.
Although quarantine has not been officially declared in Tajikistan the Inter-Agency Standing Committee on COVID-19 Response has decided that face masks are mandatory for people in Tajikistan who go out in public during the coronavirus pandemic.
