The Government of Tajikistan has endorsed the national TV and radio development program designed for 2021-2025.

The program authors note that the main problems facing the TV and radio production sector are shortage of skilled personnel, low salaries, inadequate logistical support, unsustainable development of infrastructure and shortage of modern equipment and technologies.

The program, in particular, notes that the TV and radio production sector experiences shortage of skilled script writers, producers, cameramen, video editing and sound editing specialists, designers, stage painters and lighting engineers.

The program provides for training of personnel for Tajikistan’s TV and radio production sector in Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom, France and other developed countries.

Besides, specialists will be invited from abroad for professional training of specialists of the Tajik TV and radio production sector.

The program will be financed at the expense of the country’s budget and special funds of the Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting and subordinate organizations.

Before 1996, both print and electronic media had been under the purview of the Ministry of Culture.  In 1996, TV and Radio separated from the Ministry of Culture, and the Committee for TV and radio-broadcasting was set up, but the print media remained under the control of the Ministry of Culture.

Seven national TV channels can be viewed by much of the country: Televizioni Tojikiston (Tajikistan Television); Safina; Bahoriston (Children’s TV); Varzish (Sports); Football; Jahonnamo (24 hour news TV channel); and Sinamo (Cinema – movie TV channel).

Besides, regional TV stations function in the administrative centers of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), Khatlona and Sughd provinces as well as the cities of Dushanbe and Kulob.

Tajik state radio network includes Radio Tojikiston and its channels Sadoi Dushanbe (Voice of Dushanbe), Farhang (Culture) and Ovozi Tojik (Voice of Tajik).  These Radio stations can be picked up much of the country..

Regional Radio stations broadcast in the GBAO, Sughd and Khatlon provinces.

There are also a number of private TV and Radio stations broadcasting in Tajikistan.
